ABOUT

The Southland Shopping Centre Expansion Joint Project involved the removal and replacement of an existing car park joint system to improve safety and waterproofing performance within the Myer staff car park.

IMPLEMENTATION

CPR Services was engaged by Scentre Group to remove and replace
approximately 300Lm of expansion joints, utilising the CPSX expansion
joint system. The existing system featured approximately 15mm raised
steel cover plates and had deteriorated over time, creating trip hazards
and allowing water leakage into the retailers below.

The works included removal of steel plates and existing membranes, jackhammering and grinding of the substrate, slab edge repairs and
installation of new expansion joints using the CPSX expansion joint
system, followed by a recycled chop strand topping. In addition to this, 34
meters of epoxy nosing was installed to restore and protect slab edges.

The new system provides a non-slip finish, significantly improving
pedestrian safety while delivering a fully bonded waterproofing solution to
prevent further leakage into the retailers below.
