The West Zone Expansion Joints project formed part of the West Gate Tunnel project, delivering critical joint installation works to support road performance and durability.

IMPLEMENTATION

CPR Services was engaged to complete expansion joint works along the West Zone alignment at New Street, Yarraville, working within tight road shutdown windows that required efficient planning and execution.

The works included road sawing to expose joints between the road decks, sandblasting substrate to promote adhesion of epoxy nosing, installation of epoxy nosing to reinstate slab edges and the installation of the Granor
Expansion Joint System.

Approximately 600 meters of expansion joints were installed by a team of 4-8 technicians, across two separate mobilisations.

Despite the constrained program, CPR successfully delivered the project on time and to a high standard, meeting both project requirements and client expectations.
